DANCE INSTRUCTOR

The Trico Centre is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic **Dance Instructor** to add to
our team The Dance Instructor will introduce children to a variety of dance genres while
exploring movement and music in a fun and creative way. This role requires a friendly,
mature, and responsible individual who is skilled at planning and delivering safe / high
- quality programming. This **day-time weekend position** is responsible for teaching
introductory dance classes to children ages 3-8 yrs.

**Qualifications**:

- Post Secondary education in Kinesiology, Sports and Recreation, Physical

Literacy, Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Studies preferred.
- Students (currently enrolled in above programs) may be considered based on

coursework completed to date, training received, volunteer experience and
previous work experience.
- Dance Instructor Certification preferred.
- Minimum 1-year experience teaching dance.
- Minimum 1-year experience working with children.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification.
- Mandatory Police Security Check and Vulnerable Sector Search within last 6

months.
- Previous experience in a recreation environment and High Five Certified is an

asset.
**Responsibilities:
- Actively promotes Trico’s mission, vision, and values.
- Provides quality leadership and works co-operatively with all levels in the

organization (supervisors, staff, members and patrons).
- Provides quality customer service.
- Consistently shows a positive and professional attitude.
- Available to work the required schedule.
- Provides a safe and fun learning environment for participants.
- Supervise and cares for program participants ages 3-8yrs.
- Ensures programming is age and developmentally appropriate.
- Plans, arrives prepared, and delivers quality dance classes.
- Evaluates program success and shares recommendations with Program Director

and Program Coordinator.
- Responds to customer inquiries and concerns related to the program (updating

Program Director as needed).
- Attends any required training and staff meetings.
- Implements first aid procedures when required.

**Required Skills/Experience:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work required schedule
- Enjoys working with children
- Friendly, enthusiastic and enjoys teaching
- Hardworking, professional and a team player
- Organized with strong time management and problem-solving skills

**Compensation and Work Schedule**:
**Wage**:$20 per hour

**Schedule**:Part-time hours

**Weekend shift availability**: Saturday (8:45am - 11:30am), Sunday (8:45am - 11:30am)
