**We are looking for a cook to join our amazing kitchen team in one of our beautiful long-term care facilities.**

**Previous experience cooking for seniors in a long term care facility is **_preferred_** but not required**

**Position details**:Permanent Part Time**:Sun/ Mon (0630-1430) Cook Helper, Wed/ Thurs (0930-1730) Cook
**Compensation**:$23.81 + extended health benefits after probation

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepares assigned food items by following established menus, recipes, and quantity quotas, determining ingredients and quantities required and assembling ingredients and equipment required for cooking.
- Plans preparation and cooking schedule.
- Cooks and seasons assigned food and therapeutic diet items such as soups, sauces, salads, starches, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and desserts by methods/procedures such as roasting, frying, grilling steaming, poaching boiling, baking: tests food items for palatability and temperature and adjusts accordingly.
- Carves food items such as meat and poultry and controls portioning of food items to ensure recipe yield meets assigned quantity quotas.
- Maintains established food rotations in storage, to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Assigns tasks to designated Food Service Workers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Food Safe certificate**.**:

- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination education, training, and experience.
- One-year previous experience in a long-term care kitchen environment _(preferred)_
- WHIMS certificate

**While the SSO is in place, you will be limited to working with only one employer and at only one (1) private long-term care hospital (facility), licensed long-term care facility, registered assisted living facility, stand-alone extended care hospital or provincial mental health facility. Unless regional clustering applies.**
**Regional clustering allows you to, within the same region and in agreement with the facility, hold a position as permanent with one (1) employer and hold a casual position with one (1) additional employer. You may hold only one (1) permanent position, one (1) additional casual position and must not work outside of your regional cluster.** The successful applicant for this job posting must provide satisfactory proof, or have such proof on file, that they have received the COVID-19 vaccination and any required COVID-19 booster vaccination. This requirement shall be waived if the applicant has not received the vaccination due to any legislated protected human rights grounds.
