Analyst, Corporate Accounting

**_The opportunity_**

Reporting to the Director of External Reporting and Accounting policies, this is an Analyst position in the Corporate Accounting group located in Montreal, Canada with a significant involvement in the annual and quarter-end closing and reporting process, as well as a significant role in reviewing financial derivative transactions and commodity fixation contracts to ensure they are accounted for appropriately as part of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

**_ The role_**

Review of contracts for embedded derivatives and other special accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS;
Validate and review (for accuracy and completeness) monthly mark-to-market reporting for all financial derivative transactions entered into by the Commodities group (cotton, energy) and Treasury group (FX, interest rate swaps, DSU), as well as participate in monthly financial derivative transaction financial reporting, and monitor compliance with the Company’s Financial Risk Management Policy;
Participate in the verification and review of basis and fixation contracts entered into with merchants, including comparisons to market prices, and mark-to-market reporting;
Prepare various financial analyses as part of the quarterly and year-end closing process;
Prepare certain financial statement notes;
Perform accounting research (including the preparation of technical accounting memorandums documenting analyses and conclusions), financial reporting benchmarking and special projects (including due diligence work);
Support and facilitate the external audit process;
Participate in special projects within the Company as necessary and respond to requests from the management team.

**_ What you bring to the role_**

**Knowledge & Expertise**
- 2 to 3 years of auditing and/or accounting experience;
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- CPA, CA Designation
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm or medium to large size company (public company exposure is an asset);
- Experience in the consumer goods/retail sector and/or manufacturing sector;

**Attributes**
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French; working knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset;
- Strong financial background with the ability to analyze and synthesize information and complex issues to develop meaningful analyses to help make informed decisions;
- Can perform tasks independently, yet capable to work in a team environment;
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Strong work ethic and able to work under pressure and perform under tight deadlines;
- Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail;
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics;
- Ability to implement new processes and work efficiently;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving and growing environment;
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational & analytical skills;
- Demonstrate ability to use date query and reporting tools;
- Readily voices opinions (supported by facts), escalate issues and ideas, and able to positively manage conflict.
