**Patient Care Manager, Critical Care LHB** - Department:_ Critical Care Unit - Bowmanville - Program:_ Critical Care - Status:_ Temporary Full Time 8 Hour Shifts, Days Schedule (Subject to Change) - Location:_ Bowmanville - Wage Schedule:_ $55.120 - $77.830 per hour - File Number:_ 2400001678 **JOB SUMMARY**: The Patient Care Manager (PCM) reports to the Clinical Director of Critical Care, Respiratory Services & Trauma. The PCM role will provide management of the day-to-day operations of the Intensive Care Unit and ED/ICU Float Pool at Bowmanville. Providing leadership in ensuring the provision of quality patient care through monitoring and adjusting daily clinical operations and administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective department operation. This leader will facilitate the provision of high standards of patient care through the promotion of evidence-based practice and ongoing continuous improvement processes in collaboration with the Clinical Practice Leader (CPL). This role will support our staff while ensuring quality, and industry standard level of care to our patients' and their families. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: " Provide staff supervision and support human resource planning, including conducting performance appraisals, monitoring competency assessment processes for staff and supporting the ongoing education, mentorship and development of the LHB-ICU team members. " Managing, motivating and providing professional/clinical leadership to multi-generational/ interprofessional teams; ensuring ongoing practice and professional development of a cohesive team; " Developing, implementing and leading short and long-term plans " Ensuring the provision of excellent care for patients in a manner that is respectful of patient privacy and patient confidentiality; ensuring care requirements are met with appropriate competence and delivery; resolving patient care issues, problems and concerns, in a timely manner; " Liaising and collaborating with quality improvement leaders, physicians and physician leadership to support operations of clinical area(s) and organizational goals; " Collecting, analyzing and disseminating quality data to the team to promote continuous quality improvement, maintaining accountability for the quality and integrity of data reported to external agencies, e.g., CCSO " Co-ordinating and collaborating with the CPL to orient new hires. " Develops and implements education plans including goals " Facilitates the creation of a learner-centred environment on the unit or in the program - supporting, role modelling, coaching and mentoring nursing staff and students, and preceptors/mentors **QUALIFICATIONS**: " Bachelor of Science in Nursing; " Master's degree (preferred); " CNO registration in good standing required " BCLS, ACLS " Critical Care (CNA) Certificate Preferred " 5 years progressive leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site hospital environment; advanced clinical preparation, coupled with considerable clinical experience in Critical Care; " Proven knowledge of and ability to work with Collective Agreements and Labour Relations; " Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and related best practice guidelines; " Demonstrating understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and the Health Centre's Health and Safety policies, protocols procedures and guidelines. " Demonstrated understanding of hospital funding models and CCSO standards and metric accountabilities(preferred); " Proven track record of equity-promoting environment that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment; " Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high performance culture through change management strategies that facilitates growth and development, and ingrain inclusion, diversity, equity and anti-racism into all activities; " Demonstrated knowledge of hospital functions and current trends in health care; " Proven knowledge of and ability to work with Collective Agreements and Labour Relations; " Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and related best practice guidelines; " Engaged in systems to measure and track progress including: inclusion, diversity, equity and anti-Racism metrics aligned with patient safety and overall team wellness " Experienced in decision-making processes and policies that promote equity in hiring practices and advancement for equity-deserving groups " Proven ability to problem-solve and critically analyze issues while taking an equity lens; " Creating a culture of safety through in your communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; " Must have a satisfactory performance record " Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and the ability to maintain that same standard; " Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; and **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**: The terms and con
