Interior Health is hiring a permanent full time Mental Wellness Clinician to join the East Kootenay Primary Care Network in Creston, B.C.

**What does a day in your work life look like?**

The Mental Wellness Clinician functions as a member of the Primary Health Care team. The Clinician provides short-term support and interventions relating to treatment, and/or, consultation and referral for clients experiencing chronic disease, mild to moderate mental health conditions, depression and anxiety, and challenges affecting achievement of their health goals pertaining to lifestyle choices. The Clinician is responsible for working with the Primary Care providers and team to recognize and address psychological symptoms and conditions using applicable evidence based approaches to meet short-term behavioral needs of clients.

Shifts times are from 08:30 - 16:30 hours.

**About the Team**

This position is part of the East Kootenay Primary Care Network.

The EK PCN is a network of high‐functioning, multi‐disciplinary health care providers working closely together to improve delivery of comprehensive primary care. It aims to optimize the overall health of the population in the East Kootenay by providing timely access to person‐centered, comprehensive, team‐based care that is both equitable and culturally safe. It is based on a wide body of evidence that shows that this approach achieves the quadruple aim of increasing access to care, improving patient outcomes, enhancing provider experience and reducing care costs.

EK PCN clinical teams will be patient‐focused, coordinated teams and will include: physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health providers (social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, mental wellness clinicians, dietitians, pharmacist, respiratory therapists) and aboriginal health coordinators actively working together to address the primary care needs of East Kootenay residents

Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Two (2) years recent related experience working with various community based health and human services, adults with complex multiple health care disabilities and working with populations suffering from mild to moderate mental health conditions such as chronic disease, primary care, geriatrics, community health, behaviour and human development; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
