In this role, you will:
- Deliver a personalized, inclusive and elevated care experience in a collaborative and a multidisciplinary environment
- Work closely with Twig’s clinicians to provide cohesive fertility and genetic care
- Use exceptional verbal and written communication skills to ensure patients feel heard and supported throughout their fertility journeys
- Provide individual and couples genetic counselling to patients throughout their time at Twig
- Lead virtual group counselling sessions about carrier screening and prenatal genetic screening
- Provide comprehensive pre
- and post-test genetic counselling to individuals and couples regarding (1) personal or family history concerns; (2) carrier screening; (3) preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy, structural rearrangements or monogenic diseases; and (4) prenatal screening.
- Provide comprehensive genetic counselling to patients using an egg or sperm donor or patients acting as a known egg or sperm donor
- Communicate genetic test results directly to patients
- Communicate clearly and in a timely fashion to other members of the clinical team, including documenting all patient interactions in the electronic medical records (EMR)
- Liaise with external genetics laboratories and laboratory genetic counsellors as necessary in order to provide the highest quality of care to patients
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Genetic Counselling program
- Board certified with Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Fertility or prenatal genetic counselling experience in ON or BC an asset
- Experience, willingness and comfort with providing care to LGBT2SQ individuals and couples
