STATUS: This is a full-time position, 1-year contract with possibility for renewal

HOURS: Flexible
- up to a maximum of 37.5 hours set weekly (Monday
- Friday). Hybrid work schedule will be supported (up to 40% of remote work hours).

JOB START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum:$65,884.00
Maximum: $90, 590.50

LOCATION: St. Paul’s Hospital, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE), Vancouver, BC

ORGANIZATION: The BC-CfE currently employs a team of Statisticians, Programmers, Data Managers, Clinical Research Assistants, Data Analysts, and Data Entry Clerks who work collaboratively on cohort-based epidemiological and clinical studies, and a program of qualitative research. The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Research Centre including Research Laboratory, Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology, and Professional Education Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinates and collaborates on research pertaining to enhancing and supporting healthcare engagement and outcomes among Indigenous Peoples Living with HIV, hepatitis C, and other related conditions
- Liaises closely with community partners, including First Nations Health Authority and various Community-Based Organizations and partners to facilitate research partnerships
- Coordinates and leads a monthly Indigenous Health Research meeting at the BC-CfE
- Will assist in developing protocols for data sharing and Data Stewardship agreements with Indigenous Scholars, Researchers and Community Experts
- Informs research processes that align with GIPA/MIPA Principles and other Research Best Practices (i.e., OCAP Principles)
- Will facilitate data collection and will be involved in the development of research protocols that may utilize qualitative, quantitative, and/or Indigenous Research Methodologies
- Contributes to the design and creation Knowledge Translation tools including academic and non-academic outputs
- Coordinates meetings among community, staff, research teams, and support/front-line staff
- Assists with grant writing, academic manuscript development, and other reports (i.e., lay summaries)
- Will develop and prepare abstracts, posters, and presentations for relevant meetings/conferences
- May work closely with experts and members in the community in order to facilitate knowledge exchange and translation activities
- May participate in professional development opportunities as desired, including relevant workshops, learning opportunities, and participating in working groups
- Will participate in professional development opportunities and other community engagement events Other duties as required

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Public Health, or equivalent training/experience
- Minimum of two years of related professional experience in Indigenous Health Research
- Demonstrated ability to support and work alongside Indigenous communities and organizations
- Knowledge of social and Indigenous determinants of health in Canada, including perspectives on health and wellness
- Knowledge of cultural safety and humility
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous historical context, Indigenous community contexts, and Indigenous research methodologies is expected
- Commitment to enhance accessibility and reciprocity in research and supporting ethical research practices
- Excellent project organization, implementation, and networking skills including ability to problem solve, influence and achieve consensus with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to act as a self-starter and to plan, organize and prioritize workload, handle multiple assignments effectively and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to work collaborative and manage conflict
- A clear commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equity
- Experience in writing and preparing academic and non-academic documents, reports, and communication materials for mass distribution
- Knowledge and/or experience in HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and substance use and mental health is an asset, but not required
