Mechanical & Hydraulics Technician

**Overview**
The primary purpose of this role is safe and efficient execution of field services. Services include but are not limited to set-up, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of mechanical & hydraulic systems. Deck activities include deployment and retrieval of subsea equipment. Operation of winches. Operation of geotechnical survey equipment. Data collection. Sample collection.

**Responsibilities**

1. Execute field services in an efficient, safe, and professional manner. Services include but are not limited to set-up, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of mechanical & hydraulic systems.

2. Review and interpret hydraulic and mechanical diagrams and drawings.

3. Deck activities include deployment and retrieval of subsea equipment. Operation of winches.

4. Operation of geotechnical survey equipment. Data collection. Sample collection.

5. Under supervision, receive and follow detailed instructions on how to safely perform hands-on technical duties associated with above noted services. Responsibilities include job preparation, pre and post-job checks, load-out, rig-in, rig-out, obtaining permits, and field maintenance of equipment. Complete and record paperwork associated with these tasks.

6. Role includes assembly of pipe, hose, and pumping equipment systems utilizing hand tools with mínimal supervision.

7. Must operate company equipment in a safe manner, observing all company and government regulations and arrive at jobsite or other designated destination at scheduled time. Maintain regulatory documentation as required. May be required to hold industry related certifications.

8. Ensure job operations are conducted in accordance with client specifications, government regulations, and company policies and procedures.

9. Follow technical procedures in the execution of field services and actively monitor and record data as required. Seek advice and approval as required.

10. Work flexible work schedule and report for work mentally and physically fit.
- Maintain and operate vehicle and pump tools and equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Safely work on ocean going vessel in offshore environment.

13. Report all accidents, incidents or unsafe conditions and take all necessary steps to prevent accidental damage to company property, client facilities, and the environment.

14. Work in outside environment in various weather conditions.

15. Attend technical training courses and partake in competency management activities as required.

16. Maintain integrity and professionalism in representing RTEI.

17. Comply with RTEI QHSES policies and procedures as they relate to work activities.

18. Ensure all workplaces are kept clean and tidy and that emergency equipment is available and emergency evacuation routes are kept clear.

19. Promote teamwork to maintain morale.

20. Constantly seek to improve customer satisfaction.

21. Resource and price project related goods and/or services in accordance with company procedures.

22. Carry out other tasks and duties as directed by supervisor.

23. Domestic, offshore, and international travel as required.

**Experience**
- 3 to 5 years related experience in above-identified services (considered an asset)
- Good mechanical or engineering aptitude (considered an asset)
- experience with ROV (considered an asset)
- Drilling, drilling mud, and cuttings management experience (considered an asset).
- Supervisory skills and experience (considered an asset)
- Physically fit to meet the job’s physical demands. Field work requires walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching above head. It also includes getting on and off equipment as well as lifting materials and equipment (considered an asset).
- Ability to work offshore (mandatory)

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Familiarity with RTEI products and services (considered an asset)
- Computer Literate in Word, Excel, Outlook (mandatory)
- Valid Drivers License (mandatory)
- Acceptable driver’s abstract (mandatory)
- Class 1 and / or 3 license (considered an asset)
- BOSEIT or BST
