ONE POSITION FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
FORTY HOURS PER WEEK.
QUALIFICATIONS AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Secondary school graduation preferred.
2. Holder of a valid journeyman certificate.
3. At least two years experience as a painter in private fields.
4. Demonstrated supervisory ability.
5. Ability to read blueprints, effectively lay out work, mix colours and a general knowledge of minor repair work.
6. Ability to get along well with other people.
7. Able to work well under adverse weather conditions.
8. Good health and sufficient strength to perform a variety of manual tasks.
**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Facilities Supervisor or his designate.
**SUPERVISES**: Maintenance staff engaged in painting work.
**JOB GOAL**: To help maintain the district physical plant in a condition of
operating excellence so that full use of it may be made at all times.
**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Assumes primary responsibility for the appearance of interiors and exteriors of all buildings as required.
2. Ensures that the use of scaffolding, etc. is done in a safe and efficient manner.
3. Instructs maintenance workers on the proper methods of preparation for painting and the use of related tools.
4. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains an inventory of equipment, hardware, materials and supplies.
5. Estimates painting repair projects in terms of labour and material.
6. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
7. Keeps in mind the safety of others, including school children.
8. Ensures that the district complies with applicable by-laws and regulations.
9. Performs other duties as required.
**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**: Twelve months a year.
RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
