Midwives Association of British Columbia (MABC) is the professional non-profit association representing midwives in BC. The Association works to sustain the midwifery profession through advocacy, the ongoing development and enhancement of its service, and positioning midwives as primary care providers.

The MABC works with its 400+ members to support the profession to meet the highest level of perinatal and sexual health care, through access to education and resources to improve and sustain midwifery services.

**Contract Compliance Coordinator**

Reporting to the Program Project Director of the Indigenous Midwifery Program, the Contract Compliance Coordinator (CCC) will review current and historical service contracts to identify barriers and systemic gaps, particularly as they relate to Indigenous midwives and communities, and co-develop a culturally appropriate, temporary service contract model for midwifery in indigenous communities.

The CCC will also report to the Strategic Officer of MABC to provide direct support to midwives experiencing challenges with service contracts, help resolve issues before escalation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on analysis, advocacy, and practical problem-solving rooted in community care.

**Main Responsibilities**

**Contract Review and Analysis**
- Review current and previous service contracts to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and systemic challenges.
- Conduct a needs assessment focused on Indigenous midwives and communities.
- Compile detailed reports highlighting findings and opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the first point of contact for midwives seeking contract-related support.

**Support and Liaison**
- Clarify contract terms and obligations for midwife members.
- Address common issues such as payment discrepancies, reporting requirements, approval processes, and communication gaps with governing bodies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of contract issues, actions taken, and resolutions.
- Facilitate communication between midwives and governing bodies through presentations and written reports.

**Escalation and Advocacy**
- Identify and escalate unresolved or recurring contract issues for system-level discussion and advocacy.
- Support efforts to improve provincial systems related to midwifery contract management.

**Defining Scope and Legal Responsibilities**
- Clarify the scope of work related to cultural and clinical activities specific to Indigenous midwives, including care beyond the perinatal period.
- Ensure legal responsibilities are correctly assigned in accordance with the Midwives Master Agreement (MMA) when disputes arise.

**Contract Development**
- Co-develop a temporary, culturally appropriate service contract solution tailored to the needs of Indigenous midwives and communities.

**Main Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Health Administration, Business, Law).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in contract management or compliance roles.
- Strong understanding of service contract structures, with experience in midwifery service contracts an asset.
- Experience in contract compliance, conflict resolution, or operational contract support.
- Professional liaison skills with governing bodies and midwife members.
- Familiarity with Indigenous midwifery issues and community health contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
