**Duncan Housing Society** is a local, community-based, non-profit society.

The overall purpose of the Society is Independent Housing for seniors and persons with disabilities at Duncan Manor.

Duncan Manor is a three-story, 122-unit building, consisting of studios, bachelor, and one-bedroom apartment units, it has a kitchen that serves three meals a day to tenants who need meal service. We are located within walking distance of downtown Duncan.

You would be responsible for:
Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
- Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
- Reporting any food prep/inventory shortages to the Supervisor.
- Preparing and plating food by the methods specified in a timely manner.
- Prepare and cook meals using current menu.
- Store food in designated areas following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils.
- Clean workstation thoroughly prior to leaving area.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation and safety requirements.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation standards.
- Demonstrate complete understanding of current menu.
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, and
- Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.

Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed. Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meet cleaning standards. Must be able to work independently.

Must haves:

- 1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Food safety certification required.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Ability to work proactively to recognize tasks that need doing and with little supervision.
- A vehicle or live in Duncan, and
- A criminal record check will be required.

Morning and Afternoon shifts available.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
