Are you a passionate **Behavior Consultant **dedicated to transforming the lives of children with autism? Children's Autism Services is seeking an enthusiastic and empathetic **Behavior Consultant** to join our dynamic team. We provide family-centered services within the home, school and/or community to meet the complex needs of children who have autism and other developmental disorders using the SCERTS® Model.
As a **Behavior Consultant **working with our organization, you will become part of a transdisciplinary team providing assessment, intervention plans and coaching to parents, teachers, and support staff.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Dive deep into understanding each child’s unique needs through observation, functional behavior assessments, and engaging with caregivers
- Develop meaningful, functional goals in collaboration with families and our expert team
- Plan, implement, and continually evaluate individualized programs to support each child's development
- Craft positive behavior plans tailored to the specific functions of each child’s behaviors
- Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to implement effective strategies in various settings
- Keep thorough records of assessments, goals, and consultation notes
- Provide actionable strategies and activity suggestions to parents, guardians, and child support workers
- Attend and contribute to team and community meetings, ensuring a cohesive approach to each child's needs
- Collaborate with a transdisciplinary team
- Identify and address potential issues to safeguard the well-being of families, the team, and the organization
- Maintain adherence to confidentiality policies and organizational procedures
- Contribute to innovative program development and clinical quality initiatives
**Required Qualifications**:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities
- Proficiency in developing behavior support plans and providing behavior management consultation
- Skills in crisis intervention and prevention
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle with business insurance, and willingness to travel within Edmonton and surrounding areas
- Required certifications (or willingness to obtain): Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Record Check, Standard (Intermediate) First Aid & Level-C CPR
