Department: Social Development
- Post-Majority Services_ means a range of services provided to individuals who were formerly in out-of-home care as children, to assist them with their transition to adulthood upon reaching the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside.

The goal of Post Majority Services is to provide wrap-around support that meets the distinct needs of Tla’amin youth and young adults, wherever they may reside, as well as Indigenous youth and young adults in the qathet area. The Post Majority Counsellor & Supports Coordinator (PMCSC) promotes and supports holistic positive outcomes.

**Key Responsibilities**

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices and procedures as directed by the Director of Community Services. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to Citizens, clients, employees and general matters of the Nation.

The PMCSC is part of the Social Development team at the Tla’amin Nation. Their role has three functions:

- Provide clinical and practical support to post-majority youth and young adults who have lived in government care
- Conduct research and outreach to identify all Tla’amin youth/young adults throughout the province who are eligible for Post Majority Supports, and develop a coordinated response to all direct and indirect needs
- Provide support to members receiving compensation resulting from a class action lawsuit
- Clinical and practical support_
- Provide direct supports to youth or young adults who have lived in government care as related to housing, food, employment and financial security, mental health, wellness, addiction supports, and healthy relationships.
- Provide direct counselling services.
- Understand the goals and desires of the client, as well as the full range of services and funds for which they are eligible, and actively support access to those services.
- Actively collaborate with other service providers throughout the Tla’amin Nation.
- Actively support connections with family, community, land, language, and culture.
- Adopt a trauma and violence-informed approach that is strength-based and client-led.
- Keep clear, active, and confidential records, and work strategically to support the client.
- Advocate and collaborate as required.

- Coordination_
- Identify Tla’amin youth or young adults throughout the province who have previously lived in government care.
- Outreach and build connections with them.
- Conduct a thorough assessment of direct/indirect and present/future needs of this population
- Develop a workplan and funding proposal for future services, aligning with ISC funding criteria:

- Compensation Support_
- Develop a strategy for supporting Tla’amin Citizens who have lived in care and receive compensation resulting from a class action lawsuit
- Supports should include information sharing, help joining the class action, financial literacy supports, financial planning supports, identifying/mitigating risks, and identifying/optimizing opportunities.
- Implement a personalized plan for individuals, leading up to and following compensation, integrating these supports as needed.
- Maintain the responsibilities in the roles above_
- Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external service providers, agencies and community resources
- Attend interagency/service providers meetings or training opportunities
- Support new initiatives or programs related to Post Majority Services and/or the Tla’amin Nation
- Participate in committees related to job duties or organizational requirements
- Attend to client/family emergencies
- Assist in organizing cultural activities and community events promoting education, intervention and prevention

**Qualifications**:

- Training, Education, Experience_
- Masters in Clinical Counselling, Social Work, or Child and Youth Care and 5-7 years of related work experience
- Experience with budget planning and implementation
- Leadership training and/or experience
- Acceptable Police Information Check, including vulnerable sector check
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license an acceptable Driver’s Abstract
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities_
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and effectively communicate findings
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality within a small community
- Extensive knowledge of Tla’amin culture, community, and language
- Knowledge of the guiding strategic plans; Comprehensive Nation Plan and Health and Wellness Plan
- Knowledge and awareness of the health priorities for First Nations
- Advanced computer skills especially
