**What You Will Do**:
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen British Columbia, located in Burnaby, is a research center of excellence focused primarily on the use of cutting-edge platform technology for the discovery of therapeutic antibodies. We are seeking talented, highly motivated students to join our core groups to learn and use skills in the field of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology. You will join one of the functional teams at Amgen British Columbia, partnering closely with a supervisor and contribute to projects that could potentially have a direct impact on human health.
**Essential Functions**:
- Participate in the development of novel experiments and methods.
- Use advanced fit-for-purpose laboratory instruments and systems.
- Application of the knowledge from researching literature to experiments.
- Experimental design, execution, and data analysis/documentation.
- Join one of the functional teams at Amgen British Columbia:
- Discovery Protein Science: expertise in protein design, production and characterization for therapeutic discovery
- Immune Repertoire Strategy and Generation: Develop strategies and conduct analysis of antibody immune repertoires from transgenic animal platforms to support early-stage antibody discovery programs.
- Antibody Discovery and Screening: antibody discovery by in vivo and in vitro platforms and High throughput screening technologies.
- In Vitro Pharmacology: development and execution of purpose-built assays to identify molecules with desired function and characteristics.
- Synthetic Immunoengineering: understanding and manipulating the immune system by combining chemical biology, protein engineering, and immunology
**What We Expect of You**:
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The individual we seek is a Co-op with these qualifications:
**Basic Qualifications**:
- 18 years or older
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
- Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
- Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
- Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Degree concentration(s) in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
- Able to work for two consecutive four months terms
- General knowledge of cell biology, immunology, biochemistry & molecular biology
- Previous lab experience, completion of previous co-op term(s), or internship experience
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, and flow cytometry
- High attention to detail and ability to comply with written procedures
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational, record keeping and time management skills

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in Canada is $45000 - $55,000.
