**THE OPPORTUNITY**

Reporting to the Vice President, Surety Solutions, and working closely with business leaders and your peers, you will assist in building the Quebec surety portfolio through strong underwriting discipline, while building trusting broker relationships, and working collaboratively with the Tokio Marine Canada surety unit. Our focus is simple - create the best team of professionals in the business. **WHAT YOU WILL DO**

Your responsibilities will include:

- Underwriting
- Evaluate new risks through thorough analysis to determine acceptability and pricing.
- Analyze financial statements, capacity, collateral, and character of new surety opportunities.
- Analyze and review projects requiring bonds, approving within given authority, or recommending approval or denial of surety bonds.
- Monitor ongoing bonded projects.
- Create and maintain concise and complete underwriting files.
- Conduct ongoing review and management of surety portfolio, ensure accounts are up to date and action items are being followed up on.
- Work with surety team to prepare files for internal and external audits.
- Work with surety team to create and improve systems and processes, with a focus on continued efficiencies.
- Assist with underwriting and administrative efforts across country where needed.
- Broker Management and Brand promotion
- Help establish and maintain select broker relationships in Quebec.
- Work with surety team to build and implement broker strategy.
- Promote the Tokio Marine Canada brand and work closely with various business units including Professional and Financial Solutions and Commercial Insurance.
- Travel within Quebec on a regular basis. Participate in various broker and industry events as required.

**WHO YOU ARE**

You have direct experience in insurance, specifically in surety. You are team player with a positive attitude who thrives in a consensus culture with an emphasis on collaboration. You are a self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to jump right in and can come up to speed quickly. You are comfortable working on a lean team and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.

Our new Surety Underwriter will have:

- The ideal combination of education and experience including:

- A university degree; Finance or related studies preferred
- Minimum 2 years of surety experience
- Capability to manage multiple stakeholders
- A high level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated capability managing multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines and drive for results
- Thought leadership and can innovate solutions quickly
- A customer focused mindset and superb customer service
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a high paced environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook)
- Ability to adapt to new software and technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both French and English) are required
