Recycling Centre Yard Worker

This is a **permanent**, full-time position at 40 hours per week. Available shifts is on an averaging agreement of 4 days per week at 10 hours each day - Wednesday to Saturday.

Starting wage is $22 per hour

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
- **General Responsibilities**:_
- Separate wood, drywall, concrete, tires, propane tanks, light bulbs, cardboard, metal (i.e., recyclables) from loads into appropriate piles. Move the piles into their proper bunkers / bins.
- Assist in removing large items from vehicles (stoves, fridges, freezers, hot water tanks)
- Notify scale attendant of extra tires, fridges, freezers drywall etc to be added to weight scale slip
- Assist/greet customers professionally and courteously
- Direct traffic when needed, assist in unloading to keep yard moving
- Tidy up yard, sweep, pick up loose garbage, keep area around scale shack clean and tidy
- Loading material into bins, assist with loading bins (directing bobcat)
- Weigh drywall from bin drop off - usually done with bobcat
- Load electronics onto appropriate pallets **Sweep lot with mattress to remove debris using bobcat**:

- Load compost into customer vehicles using bobcat
- Collect paint cans and put into appropriate bins
- Cut up wire and put into appropriate bins
- Burn off excess propane from tanks / remove propane tank caps
- Collect all metals and sort into copper, metal and aluminum bins
- Remove plastic from toilets
- Dispose of lighting for customers (refer to procedure, all fluorescent lights go in the dry shipping container)
- Complete and sign off on daily checklist **Enforce No Smoking / Vaping Policy by customers / visitors to the yard**:

- If operating the skid steer / mini excavator
- Complete skid steer / mini excavator checklist o Greasing, warm up, fuel, blowout air filters/radiator etc.
- Report any damage and or repairs to Yard Manager immediately
- Do onsite repairs if you are capable and/or authorized
- Any other duties as assigned

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
