**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Sport & Community Development Supervisor, is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of community centres. Key responsibilities include providing supports and resources to community centre volunteer associations, coordinating City-provided maintenance at community centres and managing the day-to-day operations of City-run centres.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Participates as a member of the Section’s service delivery team to carry out the goals and objectives of the Section.
- Sets goals and objectives and develops strategies for effective service delivery, ensuring adequate volunteer requirements are maintained.
- Assists in preparing and administering the annual operating and capital budgets for community centres; prepares financial reports including revenue generation and pricing policies.
- Identifies community needs and priorities for service delivery through research, community consultation and trends/issues identification.
- Acts as a resource to community centre volunteer associations in the planning and implementation of services for the community.
- Develops and administers policies and procedures related to community centres.
- Conducts volunteer leadership training and board/committee development; motivates, supports, and recognizes volunteers.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation relevant to City-operated community centres. Ensures relevant licenses, permits and plans are in place and renewed at all centres.
- Develops marketing strategies for community centres; administers advertising, promotion and public relations.
- Develops and maintains records, administrative reports and statistics.
- Hires, supervises, trains, disciplines, and evaluates assigned staff.
- Coordinates meetings of Advisory Committees and Community Centres Council.
- Provides customer service to facility renters and arranges for staffing and cleaning.
- Administers municipal grant programs available to community centre associations.
- Arranges for the maintenance of community centres, appliances and equipment. Oversees the work of contractors, custodial companies etc.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Diploma in recreation, business, human services or social sciences; and
- Three years experience in recreation programming and/or administration
- Must have experience in, and a commitment to, developing community partnerships and working with volunteers
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with private and public officials, co-workers and the general public
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated enthusiasm for community program planning
- Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to function and contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software
- Must be competent within the meaning of the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_
**Assets**:
- Experience in community development and marketing
- Knowledge of functions of City Departments
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Must be willing to frequently work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Must have a valid Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Basic Rescuer Certificate
