**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
In alignment with TRCA’s Strategic Plan for building communities that drive local action and improve wellbeing, the Newcomer Youth Green Economy Project (NYGEP) will provide newcomer youth access to experiential learning opportunities, build soft skills, and create pathways to future employment in the environmental sector. Under the guidance of the Supervisor Newcomer Programs, the Assistant is responsible for recruitment of program participants and coordination of training and events for the project.
This position also assists with the facilitation of a 24-hour training program and organizes tasks in support of the project team including preparing reports and maintaining participant records.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Support the coordination and logistics of training programs and events including scheduling, room bookings, refreshments, registration and evaluation.
- Coordinate and deliver orientation session and field trips.
- Coordinate and deliver end of program event for students.
- Conduct outreach to stakeholders to recruit program participants.
- Deliver information sessions to prospective applicants.
- Maintain accurate participant records, safeguarding the confidentiality of participant information.
- Ensure participant access targets are met.
- Track and report on deliverables for internal and funder reports.
- Collaborate with team and participants utilizing project management software.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as required with departmental, divisional and/or corporate objectives.
**What will you need to succeed**:
- Post-secondary degree
- Valid G-class driver’s license
- 1 - 2 years’ experience delivering training programs and events
- Experience with outreach activities including program promotion and participant recruitment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal)
- Facilitation skills with diverse audience members
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent skills in outreach and intercultural communication
- Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational abilities
- Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work evenings/weekend hours as required
- Ability to travel as needed for project meetings, events and promotion
