Casual Cook

Maxville Manor is a 122-bed long-term care home located in Maxville, Ontario which is only 30 minutes east of Ottawa or 30 minutes north of Cornwall; currently seeking a casual cook to join our Maxville Manor Team. This positions will also include additional hours of work through call-in shifts.

**Under the direction of the Director of Food Services & Hospitality, the Casual Cook will be responsible for quality control, preparation, audits and sanitation associated with all meal service in our home.**
- Successful completion of a recognized Culinary Program is mandatory or equivalent or
- Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Act, or
- Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.
- Red Seal Certificate preferred.

**Additional Qualifications Required**:

- Previous experience in the food service industry considered an asset
- Clear Criminal Record Check / Vulnerable Sector Screening

**Summary of Job Duties**:

- To prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for clients, guests and employees including Meals on Wheels program
- To review menus and production sheets before preparing meals and prepare and serve them properly and attractively
- Monitor quality and quantity of food supplies and recommend corrective action when need be, regarding quality.
- To ensure use of proper food handling techniques
- Ensure all foods are stored and date rotated
- Monitor and follow portion control of food served to clients and coffee shop
- To complete daily temperature audits for the fridge, freezers and storerooms and record findings on daily audit form
- To prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/modified diets according to planned menus
- To make menu substitutions as necessary and record these in designated place
- To adhere to time schedules for service of meals and nourishments
- Coaches Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and; responsible for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including staff replacements.
- Maintains all required records and cooperates with other departments to meet residents' needs.

Pay: $20.34-$21.89 per hour
