**SUMMARY**

**Reporting directly to their assigned Dispatcher, the Company Heavy Haul Truck Driver will operate tractor trailer multi-axle combinations to transport and deliver oversize and overweight equipment to customers. Duties include long-haul driving, load securement, and maintaining logs. This position requires initiative, dependability, and customer focus.**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Operating hydraulic detach multi-axle trailer unit to transport and deliver loads to customer
- Deck changes - adding / removing deck sections or changing from deck to rail / beam
- Proper shimming of trailers for proper load transfer
- Loading freight to meet permit requirements, as per jurisdictions
- Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and road worthiness
- Maintain daily logs, trip sheets, inspection sheets, and other necessary paperwork
- Comply with provincial, state, and federal laws and regulations including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours, and occupational health and safety
- Communicate daily with dispatch team regarding load details, safety concerns, and scheduling
- Maintain clean driving record by taking proper safety precautions
- Monitor and maintain reasonable fuel economy
- Other duties may be assigned

**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Class 1A driver’s license required
- Minimum of 5 years of deck experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of heavy haul experience required (8 Axle RGN and up)
- Must be able to safely operate a tractor-trailer unit both on highway roads, in city traffic and off-road conditions requiring tire chains
- Experience in loading, securing, and transporting various types of equipment
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Strong ability to read and write
- Moderate communication skills required
- High standard of safety
- Must be able to pass DOT regulated drug & alcohol testing
- Must hold valid commercial driver’s license
- FAST & TWIC and Passport required
- Operate heavy equipment when required under little or no supervision for loading and unloading
- Operate forklift to assemble and stack or unstack heavy haul trailers
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (snow, ice, mud, etc.)
