The Engineering, Parks and Environment Department (Engineering Operations) requires a regular full-time Supervisor, Operations - Roads.
In this leadership role, you will report to the Section Manager, Streets & Fleet and be responsible for skilled supervisory work coordinating, directing and participating in the work of crews engaged in a variety of operations, maintenance and construction tasks in the Streets branch. The work involves construction, repair and maintenance of the City’s streets. You will schedule, coordinate and supervise the work of the Roads crew ensuring performance standards, specifications and safety procedures are met, as well as coordinate with external contractors and Agencies.
You will prepare cost and time estimates, monitor budget expenditures, and participate in the development of annual work schedules, oversee operating and capital budgets, and long range planning. In addition you will establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, receive and resolve service requests, respond to the public and communicate to other departments, prepare and maintain records/reports, and order materials/equipment.
You will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by a diploma or trade (or other) qualifications in a field related to the work, and possess considerable related knowledge and experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. A thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures and materials, tools and equipment used in roads maintenance and construction is required. The position requires strong leadership with a demonstrated ability to work in a team setting along with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. You will be proficient with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and Hansen/Infor Public Works, or similar Financial and Asset Management systems. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.
**Salary**:
$48.22 per hour
(January 2024 rates)
**Hours of Work**:
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
