**CONTROLLER**

Top Lift Enterprises has been a leader in heavy equipment sales and distribution in Canada for more than 31 years. **WHAT WE REQUIRE**:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning and analysis, debt financing, and budget management functions, while ensuring company accounting procedures and the internal control environment conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and complies with Federal and Provincial legislation.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of branches and departments, including job costing analysis and labour efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
- Assist with preparations of the final annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses.
- Review and/or prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting & filing requirements for AB, BC, ON, QC, & MB, and various US States.
- Work with department managers to develop short and long-term business plans for the company.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Provide financial statement reporting and analysis, cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Prepare monthly profit reports by Branches/Products/Sales Reps/Service technicians.
- Manage/oversee accounts payable, receivable, budgeting, planning financial reporting, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Prepare month end closings, financial reporting, and coordination of audits (lead the outside auditors).
- Support all aspects of accounting management (billings, payroll remittances, tax forms, reporting etc.).
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and establish and standardize best practices across all branches.
- Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Develop reports for management or regulatory bodies.
- Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
- Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records while entering day to day transactions.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen the internal control environment and accuracy while streamlining processes for efficiency.
- Managing administrative and accounting employees in a hands-on coaching environment, facilitating internal growth and development.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Post-secondary education in Finance and/or Accounting.
- CPA designation with 5+ years of senior level experience post designation.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP/IFRS.
- Experience in the heavy equipment or retail auto industry is an asset.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Knowledge of Payworks and CDK operating/accounting system is an asset.
- Knowledge of Provincial and Federal financial regulations.
- Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product line profitability analysis.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Self-starter who takes initiative with a professional and positive attitude.
- Proven ability to manage/coach and develop a team.
