Avidbots has its headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and offices in the USA, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, and Colombia. **About this role**: **_ This can be a hybrid opportunity_** **How you will make a difference**: - Provide expertise on mechanical and electrical solutions - Develop electrical and mechanical prototypes from conceptualization to implementation - Conduct active research of emerging 3D sensor and computing technology - Acquire and evaluate promising technology - Setup, configure, and interface with sensors and other hardware - Develop test plans, jigs and fixtures as needed - Complete electromechanical solutions with robust documentation **Key requirements and experience**: - Undergraduate or college degree in Mechanical/ Electrical engineering or equivalent - Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. - Strong prototyping background for both electrical and mechanical systems (maker mentality) - High mechanical aptitude - Hands on experience with hardware prototyping - Experience with custom manufacturing - Strong technical documentation skills and scientific approach to problem solving - 3+ years experience with mechanical/ electrical design - Familiar with rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, arduino, sensor interfacing, etc.) - A passion for robotics along with the experience of bringing robots to life - Familiar with Linux Able to work independently **Nice to Have**: - Graduate school (MEng, MASc, and or PhD). - Industrial cleaning experience (we always welcome insights that will help our robots clean better). - 2+ years of Programming experience - capable of integrating sensors/prototyping small software tools - Strong knowledge of Linux. - Strong knowledge of ROS. - Additional academic specializations or industrial experience relative to robotics. - A GitHub space showcasing your projects. **Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada for any employer" Avidbots is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce.
