Bristol Machine Works Limited is an ISO 9001 certified welding and machine shop located in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. We service Sudbury, Northern Ontario and various customers worldwide. Our plants specialized in the manufacturing, fabrication, and repair of a large variety of medium to larger sized products, principally used in all aspects of the mining industry. Bristol Machine Works is currently looking to fill a Production Supervisor position.

**Production Supervisor**:
The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager. You will work collaboratively with employees, supervisors, and management to proactively provide day-to-day leadership for a multi-shift site with machining and welding work being performed. Ability to work shift work is required.
**Your duties & Responsibilities**:
- Plan and manage the day-to-day allocation of resources in order to efficiently, safely and cost effectively achieve performance targets
- Coach, mentor and develop team members to meet current and future business requirements
- Champion and lead change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Build relationships, with team members, internal customers and suppliers, colleagues, and support services to ensure achievement of targets
- Maintain safe and clean work environment and practices by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, resources and PPE
- Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures
- Maintain positive work environment
- Ensure a high quality of products, housekeeping, and hygiene practices
- Review daily maintenance effectiveness to identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure development and implementation of action plans to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiative
- Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements, and implementing change
- Assist in internal training processes
- Leadership & Communication
- Provide clear, consistent direction to employees while maintaining a respectful and professional workplace.
- Deliver daily communication regarding priorities, deadlines, quality expectations, and schedule changes.
- Address performance issues promptly and appropriately, including coaching, documenting, and progressive discipline in a unionized environment
- Work in coordination with HR and Plant Management.
- Foster teamwork and a culture of accountability.
- Oversee production workflow to meet tight deadlines and customer requirements.
- Coordinate between machining, welding, maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure daily paperwork, logs, and shift reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
**Health, Safety & Compliance**
- Enforce company policies, safety rules, and collective agreement requirements.
- Conduct and document workplace inspections, incident reports, and corrective actions as required.
- Promote a safe work culture through consistent communication and follow-through.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
- Manage high-stress situations, competing priorities, and unexpected production challenges.
- Make effective decisions based on production demands, employee capabilities, and safety considerations.
- Use sound judgment when addressing concerns, conflicts, or operational disruptions.
**What You Need**:
- 5 years experience in a leadership capacity with shift or area ownership required
- Ability to supervise 25+ individuals and assign tasks and jobs according to priority
- Ability to work rotating shift work (**Week One**:Mon-Fri 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. **Week Two**:Mon-Thu 3:00 pm - 1:00 am)

- Must have secondary school graduate diploma or equivalent
- Experience in mining, manufacturing, heavy equipment, machining, or welding is an asset
- Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage pressure, tight timelines, and multiple competing demands.
