Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouver’s youth who are at-risk, homeless, and street-involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma, mental health or substance issues. The Directions Youth Worker - Dusk to Dawn
***
**evening** position is a salaried part-time role that serves homeless, street-involved youth under the age of 24 accessing the 24-hour Directions Youth Services Centre. This position takes a leadership role in tone-setting and maintaining the safety of the resource. This position provides guidance and information to the youth promoting safety and, where possible, assisting in their transition from the street to healthier, alternative lifestyles. This position acts in a mentoring role with Peer Support Workers. This position reports to the Dusk to Dawn Supervisors and/or Manager of Directions Youth Services Centre.

_with a $2.00 per hour shift premium added to wages for overnight hours worked_)

What you bring:
**Education, Training, Experience**
- Two years post-secondary course/diploma in social work or youth care/certificate in related field
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset
- Food Safe Certification an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience working with youth, preferably in support of youth who have alcohol /drug misuse issues.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Knowledge of community, social and health resources
- Knowledge of the systemic issues that affect low income and marginalized people
- Knowledge of substance misuse, adolescent development and the problems encountered by chemically dependent individuals; basic understanding of behavioral management
**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required
