Truck and Coach Technician

**Typical Vehicles in our Truck shop**

We work on a wide variety of vehicles and commercial equipment in the truck shop. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and expand your skills as a technician.
- Light-duty Diesel Trucks (example: F550+)
- Medium-duty Diesel Trucks
- School Buses
- Motorhomes
- Heavy-Duty Trucks and Trailers
- Regular maintenance services and minor repairs on off-road equipment such as welders, generators and wood chippers

**Technician Responsibilities**

Specifically, a Truck and Coach Technician inspects, repairs, and maintains:

- electrical and electronic systems
- engines including fuel, exhaust, intake, and emission controls
- transmissions, clutches, driveshafts, and axles
- body, trim, frames, and hitching/coupling systems
- steering, suspension, and computer control systems
- tires, wheels, and hubs
- braking systems, including air supply and hydraulic
- heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems
- preventative maintenance services, including inspections and oil changes
- maintain a clean and safe work environment
- record accurate records of all repairs made on vehicles

**Desired Qualifications and Technical Skills**
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Licensed Technician is required
- 8+ years of experience is an asset
- Valid 310T license and OCOT certificate
- Valid Ontario Driver's License
- Reading, writing, and communication skills
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in tight spaces
- Willingness to learn, and the ability to work as a team
- Certified in Ozone Depletion Prevention is an asset
- Certified in Drive Clean HD Diesel Emission testing is an asset

**Work Environment**
- Garage environment; exposure to and working with a variety of oils, fluids and other chemicals
- Excessive noise; exposure to shop equipment and other tools
- Fast-paced environment; may experience frequent interruptions
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination
- Standing, pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, reaching, laying under vehicles for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 100 lbs
- Driving is required

**Workflow Process - Utilizing Technology in the Shop**

Here at ATW, paper Work Orders and Tech Worksheets are a thing of the past. Our technicians use tablets to obtain their next Work Order. The Technician updates and records all of the necessary information and performs a Digital Vehicle Inspection in most cases.

Technicians have access to various Technical Service Information resources such as ALLDATA, ProDemand, TruckSeries, and Direct-Hit, right from their tablet or computer. Technicians can utilize the most advanced Diagnostic Equipment, including the latest Cummins INSITE, Navistar Engine Diagnostics, and the JPRO Heavy-duty Truck Diagnostics.

**Advanced Technical Training Opportunities**

We believe training is an essential part of being a professional technician. All of our technicians participate in local training courses (Carquest Technical Institute with Lary Goudge). We also have a full subscription to AVI On Demand for all types of advanced training courses.

**Salary**: From $36.00 per hour
