**Youth Live-In Home Support Worker, Nanaimo BC** **Position Type**:Part time (24 Hours) **Schedule**:Tuesday (8am-8am) **Starting Wage**: 448 per diem **Sanctuary Place **:_"We are a diverse, ambitious team, excited about what we do. We strive and support each other to encourage growth and self confidence in ourselves and the people we support."_ **Position Summary**: Under the direction of the CH Manager the CH Support Staff will: - Assist individuals with the activities of daily living involving their personal, social, physical, recreational, vocational, educational, and environmental needs - Will promote respectful treatment of individuals and defend individual rights, including demonstration of a high degree of tolerance for individual's unique personalities and challenges - To support individuals to communicate needs, choices and preferences, and to support the use of inclusive communication strategies - To support and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with other CH and CI team members - Perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner to promote choice, independence, and integration for the individuals receiving our services - Uphold the Policies and Procedures of Bonaventure Support Services Ltd and carry out our Mission statement, Values and Code of Ethics to the best of their abilities - Adhere to any relevant Legislation and Regulations (i.e. _Community Care Facility Act - Adult Regulations, Standards for Residential Settings _and _Motor Vehicle Act, CLBC, MCFD, CARF, WCB-WorkSafe-BC, as required_). We are looking for team members who are motivated, work well as a team but can also work alone, and can provide the following: - Must be 19+ years of age - Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License or program specific approved Class 7 - Proof of full Covid-19 Vaccination or exemption - Current Ministry of Health Approved First Aid Certificate including CPR - Drivers Abstract - Food Safe Certificate - Criminal Records Review Act Schedule A - Employer will file - Ministry of Child and Family Development Screening - Employer will file - Physician's Declaration - TB Screen - Education and/or experience working with youth at risk, children with developmental disabilities or children with challenging behaviours. (CYC,CSW, ECE- special needs) - Ability to work independently - Able to work in stressful environment - Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills The supported youth could present with the following; non-verbal, personal care needs, aggressive behaviour, aggressive language, possibility of elopement, attachment disorder, could have had some type of trauma in their lives which manifests as behaviours. If you have worked with vulnerable youth and/or adults, hold a CYC, CSW, ECE with a special needs certificate, or relevant certificates, diplomas or degrees OR are passionate about supporting youth and wish to make a difference, we would love to talk with you.
