**Position Overview**:
A Baker/Cook is tasked with the preparation, baking, and finishing of various baked and cooked products. This role involves managing the entire baking/cooking process, from mixing ingredients to finishing the final product.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **General Production**: Tasks that require more skill and attention such as bread, savory production, making/baking cakes, icings, fillings, tarts, pies
- **Preparing Ingredients**: Accurately measure, weigh, and combine ingredients based on specific recipes and formulas.
- **Cooking and Baking Products**: Bake a variety of goods including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and pies, and cooking pizzas and hot sandwiches, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- **Recipe Development**: Develop new recipes or modify existing ones to create signature products that stand out.
- **Equipment Operation**: Operate industrial baking ovens, mixers, and other specialized baking equipment safely and efficiently.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitor stock levels of ingredients, place orders when needed, and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
- **Quality Control**: Inspect final products for quality, ensuring proper texture, taste, and appearance. Make adjustments to the baking process as necessary.
- **Sanitation & Safety**: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area. Follow all health and safety regulations regarding food handling, storage, and kitchen cleanliness.
- **Team Collaboration**: Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operation in the bakery.
- **Troubleshooting**: Identify and solve any problems during the baking/cooking process, whether related to ingredients, equipment, or environmental factors like temperature and humidity.
- **Gluten Free Certification Program**:Employees are required to follow the gluten-free certification program and complete all necessary procedures, including the shipping and receiving log, raw ingredient log, batch control, GMP, daily monitoring form, cleaning checklist, temperature log, and daily product inventory, among others.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Education**: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification in culinary arts or baking is highly preferred.
- **Experience**: At least 1-2 years of professional baking experience, preferably in a commercial kitchen or bakery setting. Knowledge of advanced baking techniques is a plus.
- **Attention to Detail**: Must be meticulous in following recipes, measuring ingredients, and checking product quality.
- **Time Management**: Ability to work efficiently under time constraints, particularly during peak hours or when handling multiple orders.
- **Creativity**: An eye for aesthetics and creativity in designing and decorating baked goods, especially for custom orders.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to stand for extended periods, handle physically demanding tasks, and work in a warm kitchen environment.
- **Problem-Solving Skills**: Ability to troubleshoot issues with recipes, equipment, or baking/ cooking conditions and make necessary adjustments.
- **Communication**: Strong communication skills, as bakers/cooks often need to coordinate with other kitchen staff and communicate with customers for special orders.

- **Shifts**: Early morning and weekend shifts are required
- **Conditions**: Bakers/Cooks work in hot, fast-paced environments with industrial equipment, making adherence to safety protocols important.

Pay: $22.00-$23.00 per hour
