We do this by providing emergency shelter and permanent housing, services and supports for women, families, Trans and gender diverse persons who experience homelessness or housing insecurity. **Position scope**

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Social Work Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all full-time, part-time and relief Client Support Workers, and the Adsum House Social Worker. The Social Work Coordinator also provides direct counseling services to clients and oversees all case management and planning for individuals staying at Adsum House as well as former clients.

The Social Worker models a client-centered, non-punitive, collaborative and social justice
- oriented approach to client care. The Coordinator, along with the Social Worker, takes the lead in responding to crisis situations and to complex client needs. The Social Work Coordinator has excellent critical thinking, social work assessment and analytical skills, is skilled in a variety of counseling approaches and can effectively respond to conflicting organizational needs. Creative problem solving, managing stressful situations effectively, flexibility and the ability to prioritize and work under pressure within a changing environment are essential skills for this role. The Social Coordinator has extensive skills in integrating anti-oppressive, harm reduction and trauma informed service principles in agency policies, procedures and in daily client work.

The Social Work Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of in-house programs. Outside the House, the Social Work Coordinator will liaise with other community organizations and resources, advocate for and provide advice and recommendations on issues ofconcern to women, trans persons and youth who are homeless and their children. In cooperation with the Executive Director and other members of the Management Team, the Social Work Coordinator will monitor goals, outcomes and policies and ensure Adsum House is working to fulfill its strategic plan.

**Typical duties**

**A. Provides supportive counseling and case management services to clients**
- Identifies issues of concern to clients at Adsum House as well as to former residents and women, Trans and gender diverse persons at risk of becoming homeless;
- Conducts social work assessments and assists clients in the development of both short
- and long-term goals and the pursuit of those goals;
- Makes referrals on behalf of clients and advises on the development of referral protocols;
- Responsible for crisis assessment and intervention;
- Collaborates, supports and functions as clinical team leader to the social worker and client support team;
- Responsible for maintaining case records and case management within Adsum House;
- Identifies issues and works to ensure the protection of the rights of all clients;
- Provides assistance and support to clients during difficult and crisis situations; and
- Participates in formal and informal case conferences regarding clients’ situations;
- Responsible for on-call duties;
**B. Provides information, support and other services to youth, women, Trans and gender diverse persons requiring emergency and short-term shelter.**
- Provides information in person and on the phone to women, youth, Trans and gender diverse persons seeking assistance in locating emergency, short-term and permanent housing;
- Ensures that all staff interactions with clients are carried out in a safe, dignified and unobtrusive manner;
- Maintains client confidentiality and privacy; and
- Assists clients in obtaining medical treatment and other services.

**C. Develops, implements and evaluates both short
- and long-term programs for residents.**
- Recommends the implementation of programs on behalf of residents and other clients;
