**Position: Pipelayer**

**Location: Sites located in and around Edmonton, reporting into our Acheson office**

**Type: Hourly**

Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development, to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure proper grading, bedding, and side tamping of pipes
- Monitor pipe installation, cover, and connection quality
- Build and align manholes, ladder rungs, and other structures
- Safely spot mainline, hoe, and excavation around utilities
- Mentor workers and maintain communication on site
- Inspect pipes, fittings, and backfill quality
- Level manholes, catch basins, hydrants, and valves
- Install thrust blocks, concrete collars, and anodes to spec
- Understand and communicate locate information and specs
- Report knowledge gaps and issues to Foreman
- Perform additional tasks as required

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Minimum 3 years' previous experience working in an underground infrastructure environment.
- Able to work in physically-demanding conditions
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from site.
- Valid CSTS2020 certification
- Valid WHMIS2015 certification
- Valid Ground Disturbance certification
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs, unassisted.
- Must be 18 years of age or older

**Work Schedule**:

- Monday to Saturday
- 8-12 hour shifts
- Overtime as needed
