- Part Time (7 shifts Bi-weekly - 4 shifts 4:20pm-7:20pm & 3 shifts 4pm-7pm)
- Part Time (7 shifts Bi-weekly 4:20pm-7:20pm)
- **Reports to**:_Food Service Manager and in his/her absence the Cook.
- **Qualifications**:_
- Current certificate in food handling training from a local board of health or an agency of the board of health or has recently successfully completed an equivalent food handler training program
- Food service experience necessary.
- Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
- Familiar with HACCP, WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety, Sanitation Code.
- Willingness and ability to learn.
- **Job Requirements**:_
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check - current within 6 months of date of hire.
- Immunization as per home’s policy.
- TB Testing result current within 1 year of date of hire.
- **Physical Demands**:_
- Standing for extended periods of time at food preparation tables - for up to 10hrs/day.
- Walking short distances and manoeuvring in tight spaces within kitchen and dining room environments.
- Pulling/pushing/lifting dishracks, food carts, bulk food items, etc., up to 50lbs.
- Reaching and lifting food items and kitchen tools from and to upper shelving up to 10lbs - at times with use of an 18inch to 3ft stepping ladder.
- Ability to complete repetitive arm motions for periods of up to 1hr while peeling, chopping, and preparing food items.
- Working in warm temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Memory work required to know dining room layout, table and section numbers and residents.
- Dexterity required to open caps, pull spray triggers, open condiment packages, etc.
- **Functions**:_
- Assist Cook with food preparation as required.
- Complete departmental cleaning and ware washing as required.
- Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.
- Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences and outlined departmental procedures.
- Clear tables, load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual ware washing as required.
- **Job Description: Risk Management and General Safety**_Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
- Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
- Reports all accidents/incidents immediately.
- Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
- Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of biohazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.
- Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
