**Currently looking for Sheet Metal Apprentice and Journeyman Shop Hands.**

Trotter & Morton’s Mechanical Division provides services to the municipal, commercial, institutional, residential and industrial sectors such as hospitals, office towers, shopping centres, airports, hotels, water and wastewater treatment facilities, multistory residential, warehouses and educational institutions.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates
- Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment
- Fit and join sheet metal parts using welding and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, air and heat ducts, and material handling systems
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
- Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
- Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications

- Ability to take orders and instructions
- To be in good physical condition
- A mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift in excess of 25 kilograms
- Eye-hand coordination, spatial and form perception, good eyesight and manual dexterity
- Ability to visualize a finished product from a drawing
- Ability to stand for long periods, do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying, and work in high, awkward and noisy places
- Patience, dependability and accuracy
- Ability to work in a construction or shop environment

Required Experience
- Ability to power operate break, shears, spot welders, insulating, and plasma machine
- MIG, TIG, and SMAW, GMAW, and brazing experience would be an asset
- Sheet Metal schooling and applicable hours
- Apprentice or Journeyman experience
- Commercial experience considered an asset
