**Position Summary**
The Equipment Technician supports the Equipment Manager in maintaining the reliability, safety, and readiness of farm equipment for a large-scale farming operation. This entry-level role focuses on routine servicing, basic repairs, shop organization/Housekeeping, and maintenance support while building foundational mechanical skills. The position contributes directly to equipment uptime, seasonal preparedness, safe operations, and efficient maintenance workflows.
**Key Result Areas & Expected Outcomes**
**1. Equipment Readiness & Preventive Maintenance**
**Outcome**:Farm equipment is consistently serviced, inspected, and prepared for use to support uninterrupted field operations.
**Key Results**:
- Routine servicing (oil changes, lubrication, filters, basic adjustments) is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Equipment is cleaned and inspected for wear, leaks, and visible issues.
- Machinery is prepared for seeding, spraying, and harvest under supervision.
- Potential issues are identified early and communicated to prevent breakdowns.
**2. Maintenance Support & Workflow Execution**
**Outcome**:The Equipment Manager’s maintenance workflow is supported efficiently, allowing repairs and servicing to proceed without delays.
**Key Results**:
- Daily tasks are completed as assigned and within expected timelines.
- Equipment is moved into and out of the shop safely and efficiently.
- Work areas are set up correctly for repairs and servicing.
- Clear updates are provided on task status and issues identified.
**3. Shop & Tool Organization**
**Outcome**:The maintenance shop remains clean, organized, and operationally efficient.
**Key Results**:
- Tools are cleaned, returned, and stored properly after use.
- Service bays and workspaces are kept clean and orderly.
- Parts, filters, and supplies are labelled, inventoried, and accessible.
- Waste materials are disposed of safely and according to procedures.
**4. Documentation & Maintenance Records**
**Outcome**:Maintenance activities and equipment status are recorded accurately to support planning and follow-up.
**Key Results**:
- Time spent, parts used, and equipment condition notes are recorded as directed.
- Equipment is correctly tagged as awaiting repair, in progress, or completed.
- Maintenance logs or digital systems are updated accurately with supervision.
- Documentation is completed with mínimal correction required.
**5. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management**
**Outcome**: All maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with health and safety requirements.
**Key Results**:
- PPE is used correctly and consistently.
- Safe lifting, lock-out/tag-out, and shop safety procedures are followed.
- Hazards, near misses, and unsafe equipment are reported immediately.
- Participation in safety training and toolbox meetings is consistent.
**6. Skill Development & Team Contribution**
**Outcome**:The Technician develops foundational mechanical skills while contributing positively to the maintenance team.

- Demonstrates growing understanding of farm equipment and maintenance practices.
- Applies training, feedback, and coaching to improve performance.
- Works cooperatively with the Equipment Manager and farm team.
- Shows increasing confidence and independence in basic tasks over time.
