**Job Profile**:
There is an opening for a Stormwater Operator within the Infrastructure Services Department available immediately. This position is the primary field service member involved in all aspects of the City’s stormwater collection system, including all buried infrastructure and all associated lands and appurtenances associated with the ponds. This position will also be involved in any maintenance activities involving dams for which the City has taken responsibility for. Spills that impact the stormwater system, or the natural environment will also be addressed under this position. Reporting to the Supervisor of Waste Water, the following requirements apply:
**What you will be doing**:

- Inspection of stormwater pond facilities, with a focus on identifying operational concerns and/or performance issues
- Must have knowledge of, and be able to identify and manage, invasive plant species.
- Collect grab and/or composite water samples from ponds and/or streams that are associated with the City’s stormwater management system
- Inspection and repair of stormwater system diverter valves, backflow preventers, sluice gates, buried stormwater Infrastructure
- Set-up, monitor, and download data from flow monitoring equipment.
- Entry and inspection of buried infrastructure such as infiltration galleries, stormwater maintenance holes, pond inlets/outlets, risers, drains, etc.
- Must be fully trained on Spill Response identification and mitigation, along with cleanup of stormwater system, ponds and/or natural environment.
- Must understand the purpose and functionality of all municipal stormwater system components, including ponds, sewers, pumping stations, flow restrictions, erosion controls, etc.

**Education**:
2-year post-secondary diploma in environmental, civil, water resources or related area of study.

Preference will be given to otherwise fully qualified applicants who hold a valid Wastewater Collection Operator License as issued by the MECP.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Minimum of two years work-related experience.
- A valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence in good standing, with a driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (4 or less demerit points may be considered acceptable). Preference will be given to applicants with DZ endorsement
- **Preference will be given to applicants with the following Operational Training**: Maintenance of municipal stormwater facilities and infrastructure; Spill response and mitigation; Confined Space Entry; Working from Heights; CVOR Licensing and Load Securement; Chainsaw Safety and Operation; WHMIS 2015; Dam and Open Water Safety; Sharps Handling, Hydro-Excavator Awareness and Safety; Environmental Vector Awareness; Identification and Management of Invasive Species; Environmental Sampling, Monitoring and Record Keeping.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision is a reliable self-starter, as part of a team.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, departments, and the public

**Hours of Work**:
The hours of work are in accordance with the collective agreement and currently are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, 40 hours per week.

Overtime, Stand-by duties and the ability to work Night Shift as required are an expectation of employment.

**Your compensation**:
This position is located within our CUPE 32 (outside workers union) compensation salary schedule Job Grade 6 and has an hourly rate of pay is as follows (2025 Rate):
Starting Rate: $33.55 per hour
12-Month Rate: $34.58 per hour
24-Month Rate: $35.63 per hour
