**Position Overview**: Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre (SKHC) is seeking a dedicated and innovative Physician to join our interdisciplinary Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IIPCT). SKHC provides culturally safe, holistic, and integrated healthcare services to urban Indigenous populations and surrounding First Nations. This role offers the unique opportunity to practice community-based medicine grounded in both clinical excellence and Indigenous teachings, values, and traditional healing practices.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and manage a broad range of acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic investigations; initiate and monitor patient-centered treatment plans.
- Deliver care that respects cultural values and traditional healing practices, supporting the emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical well-being of patients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs (EC), Diabetes Educators, Traditional Healers, Elders, Mental Wellness & Addictions staff, and Health Promoters.
- Accept referrals from and provide consultations to allied health team members.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely patient records in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Participate in clinical team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and care planning.
- Support community outreach, health promotion activities, and policy development initiatives that incorporate Indigenous cultural frameworks and healing traditions.
**Qualifications**:
**Education & Certification**:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Certified or eligible for certification in Family Medicine (CCFP).
- Active registration and Certificate of Good Standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- CMPA membership in good standing.
**Experience & Skills**:
- Clinical experience in primary care or community-based settings.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or urban Indigenous populations is an asset.
- Commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed healthcare practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive within a multidisciplinary, collaborative care environment.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and basic office software.
