Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator will be responsible for managing and implementing a range of research projects related to inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities globally and will also provide operational support to the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR). The incumbent will participate throughout the research process, facilitating contracts between the PI and partners, creating and managing project budgets, implementing and monitoring research projects, assisting with evaluation, and disseminating results (contribute to reports, publications and scientific presentations). The incumbent will liaise and network with collaborators.
**Job Description**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Implement, and monitor the Principal Investigator’s research projects.
- Participate in dissemination of research project findings. Prepare results for presentation, usually in the form of a written report or proposal or PowerPoint.
- Coordinate and assist in Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions.
- Develop project budgets and be responsible for monitoring and reporting, as per funder/institution guidelines, and in coordination with the Research Grants and Financial Officer of the School of Rehabilitation Therapy.
- Supervise casual staff and graduate student research assistants. Guide, advise, and lead employees. Delegate tasks and determine priorities as necessary.
- Collaborate with other units at the University to ensure all aspects of project management appropriately taken care of (i.e. University Research Services, and Financial Services).
- Design and oversee the development of interview protocols.
- Conduct qualitative interviews, coordinate data collection, and assist with the development of process and knowledge translation strategy evaluation.
- Develop and maintain a detailed project management timeline and task set.
- Maintain communication within the research teams to support progress along the project management timeline.
- Maintain communication with the research sites to support the smooth and effective collection and analysis of data.
- Liaise and communicate with other staff, labs and outside agencies to stay aware of developments and foster collaborative research.
- Reference management using EndNote.
- Develop comprehensive search strategies and conduct literature reviews as directed, and present data information in an appropriate form.
- Generate analyses and reviews.
- Use judgement and personal initiative to adapt procedures, as required, to meet the needs of the project and to research on a fairly independent basis.
- Prepare visual and verbal presentations and participate in research team meetings.
- Analyze data and interpret results, including use of complex computer programs.
- Coordinate and host field visits from international stakeholders and collaborators to Kingston.
- Prepare regular project reports and support preparation of new project proposals.
- Support research communications, both for the PI and the ICACBR, including updating websites; sharing stories of the research with the community; and posting on social media
- Support operations of ICACBR, including scheduling and taking minutes at scientific advisory board meetings, preparing annual reports, supporting the research centre strategic planning process, organizing the Malcolm Peat lectureship, and other duties as assigned in support of the Centre.
- Undertake other duties as assigned in support of the PI.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A PhD degree in a relevant field, or Master’s degree with equivalent experience.
- Several years of relevant field experience.
- Experience conducting research and qualitative data analysis.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset.
- Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
