A **Social Worker at Viola’s Place Society**will work with the unhoused population. The Social Worker will deliver collaborative and holistic care, prioritizing the psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being of individuals by addressing the social determinants of health and facilitating engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation processes. The mission of the Social Worker is to empower clients by building on their strengths, highlighting coping strategies, problem-solving skills, past achievements, and personal resources.

**Activities**
- Complete assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation processes
- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with our Community Mental Health Nurse, Recreation Worker, and Housing Support Workers, ensuring effective follow-through and support
- Collaborate with community partners
- Maintain the continuity of care by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
- Maintain confidential records
- Advocate for mental health resources and services through community outreach
- Support holistic, evidence-based care tailored to client needs
- Motivational interviewing
- Provide services with holistic, evidence-based practices in substance use and mental health treatment

**Skills Required**:

- Knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practices
- A high degree of motivational interviewing skills and engagement techniques
- Knowledge of harm reduction strategies
- Ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support using appropriate methods
- A commitment to ethical practices
- Experience in complex case management and community resources
- Demonstrated ability to use a trauma-informed, client-centered approach
- Previous experience working in mental health and addiction
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to assist clients with navigation of local community resources and agencies
- Ability to work collaboratively with a professional team
- Ability to effectively manage a large client caseload
- Experience working with diverse communities with a focus on the social determinants of health
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

**Qualifications**:

- Must be over the age of 19
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related post-secondary education
- Previous experience working with adults who are facing mental health challenges or addiction
- Current Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a reliable vehicle
- A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required

Pay: $34.00-$42.00 per hour
