Altona, Canada Friesens Corporation Full time

Production Support personnel perform a variety of tasks relating to Bindery Department production and are responsible to carry out the instructions of the Production Manager. Production Support staff members are responsible to assist the Bindery Machine Operators and may cross train to operate various pieces of small equipment. Support personnel are responsible for producing products efficiently to establish procedures to produce a high-quality product, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

**Job Requirements**:

- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Experience operating and using small tools
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math Skills (Metric and Imperial measurements, problem solving, conversion charts, etc.)
- Effective use of production related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Ability to detect, isolate and identify irregularities in product
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing and time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Continuous learning/improvement mindset
- Must be able to work in team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
- Able to deal with people diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
- Must be willing to work at all Friesens facilities as needed
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work and communicate effectively with the Managers, Machine Operators and co-workers
- Practice Friesens safety procedures at all times in all situations
- Read job dockets as necessary for each job
- Move stock manually or with floor/pallet jacks or other devices
- Assist at the Perfect Binder, Multiplex and Saddle Stitcher ensuring signatures match, filling pockets and stacking product onto skids or into boxes
- Cross train on various pieces of small equipment including but not limited to:

- Colmatic
- Brackett Stripper
- Dummy Book Making
- Multiplex Collator
- Single Head Stitcher
- Manual Sewing Machine
- Small Format Folder
- Assist with department maintenance and housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned by the Production or Operations Manager

**Education**: Preferred
- High School Diploma or better
