GME Excavation Sewer and Water is a leading provider of excavation services in Winnipeg, specializing in sewer and water line installations. We are excited to expand our team and are looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator.

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Set up and prepare job sites for pipe installation, including excavation and site grading.
- Install various types of piping systems (PVC, HDPE, ductile iron) according to project specifications.
- Ensure proper alignment and grade of pipes during installation.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment.
- Collaborate with crew members to perform backfilling and compaction of trenches after installation.
- Conduct inspections and tests on installed pipes to ensure compliance with standards.
- Perform shoring, grading, and geo-têxtile installations as needed.
- Clean up sites, remove rubble and debris, and complete safety checks as required.
- Direct traffic at or near construction sites when necessary.
- Track production and assist with survey layout.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and any issues that arise.
- Document daily activities and report completed tasks to management.

**Qualifications**:

- 1- 3 years of Pipelayer in civil / infrastructure construction, preferably in the areas of sewer and water.
- Prior experience as a Labourer or Heavy Equipment Operator in sewer, water and earthworks projects an asset.
- Knowledge of pipe installation techniques and materials used in sewer and water infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is an asset.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and regulations in construction.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.

**Working Conditions**:

- Must be comfortable working in underground and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by project demands.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials may be necessary.
- Must have own transportation to and from the job site.

Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
