Construction Surveyor Job Summary

Construction Surveyor Responsibilities
- Interface with other trades, civil engineers, and project managers to develop detailed design documentation
- Examine project drawings in preparation of survey layout.
- Survey the site to gather information and precise measurements on geographic, hydrographic, and topographic features.
- Utilize surveying instruments such as total stations, builder’s levels, robotics, and GPS (global positioning systems) to measure distances accurately.
- Advise clients, engineers, and construction managers of any on-site conditions, building defects, or potential environmental impacts within boundary lines.
- Perform layout work, check as-built conditions, and stake out boundaries and reference points on site.
- Mentor and train junior surveyors.

Construction Surveyor Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, building or land surveying technology, cartography, or a related field is required.
- 3 years of experience as a construction surveyor, land surveyor, or cartographer is needed.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of surveying, trigonometry, mapmaking, and the methods, principles, and practice of surveying.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience using Trimble total station and GPS equipment.

**Salary**: $33.00-$38.00 per hour
