**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Execute fermentation experiments and lab work at different scales to maximise production efficiency
- Planning and setting up tests, taking detailed lab notes, samples and measurements.
- Support pilot scale production activities
- Process samples using biological, biochemical, and other analytical chemistry techniques.
- Perform in-process sampling from ongoing studies
- Evaluate and maintain fermentation data in databases
- Prepare media, buffer and monitor bacterial cultures
- Clean and sterilize glassware and laboratory equipment
- Oversee lab maintenance, inventory management and procurement activities
- Assist in development and preparation of lab operating procedures and policies
- Prepare, analyze, and present data to Upstream team
- Assist in report writing and project management tasks
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment
- Maintain safe practices and work environment
- Establish new laboratory techniques

**Required Qualifications and Skills**:

- BSc (Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering) or BASc (Chemical, Environmental, Biological) degree or any relevant degree with minimum 12 months of laboratory experience
- Practical experience in aseptic handling of microbial cultures and fermentation processes
- Comfortable in working with routine laboratory equipment like centrifuges, balances, biosafety cabinets, autoclaves etc.
- Ability to work independently with minimum guidance and supervision
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Highly effective oral and written communication
- Comply with health and safety guidelines, quality assurance policies and defined procedures
- Comfortable with a fast-paced and self-directed work environment
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite and willingness to learn new software

**Additional Requirements**
- Must be eligible to work full-time in Canada
- Work is performed at Genecis Bioindustries labs (700 Bay St.) with limited remote work
- Occasional work at Genecis Bioindustries Pilot facility in Scarborough, ON
- 37.5 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work as required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
