**CUPE** - Job Title:_ Admitting Clerk - Status:_ Temporary Part Time (>3 months) - Department:_ Patient Registration - Program:_ Health Information Mgmt 4 and 8 Hour Shifts; Days, Evenings and Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change) - Location:_ Lakeridge Health Port Perry - Wage Schedule:_ $29.150 - $30.710 per hour - Posting Reference:_ 2400002733 This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing September 3, 2024 and closing at 11:59 pm on September 10, 2024. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Manager Patient Registration and Central Booking, the Registration/ Admitting Clerk is responsible for office and clerical functions in the Emergency Department including: registering all Emergency patients, providing direction and information to ER patients and their families; utilizing Meditech Admissions module admitting and discharging patients; maintaining ER records, closing and filing charts, documenting WSIB, collecting and documenting insurance information, creating financial forms and receiving payments, answering telephone inquiries and relaying accurate messages; morgue processes, and other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: - Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; - Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills; - Knowledge of Meditech Admissions Module; - Keyboarding skills of 35 w.p.m. (tested); - Knowledge of medical terminology (tested); - Proven ability to work well in a high paced environment with frequent interruptions; - Proven ability to work with mínimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter; - Physically capable of reaching, pulling, bending, walking, lifting, carrying frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks; - Proven attention to detail; - The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritization, organizational and time-management abilities; - Must have satisfactory performance record; - Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; - Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; - Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
