**Full Time, In-person, Professional Position - 40 hours per week**

**About Us**

Routes is dedicated to providing a welcoming space for learning, growing, building healthy relationships, and supporting youth aged 8-19. To fulfill its mission, Routes provides both free drop-in services and more structured programs focused on supporting youth mental health, healthy lifestyles, community engagement, employment skills, youth leadership, and personal growth. Routes staff and volunteers encourage the personal development of young persons, through the engagement of youth themselves, their families, and other community supports, while also advocating for youth needs and participating in broader community initiatives that support systemic change for youth in our community.

**Role Summary**

The Centre Director is responsible for the management of Routes Youth Centre’s staff, programs and services. This position is one of two, full time roles within the Routes staffing compliment that fosters and promotes innovative, effective programs and services to realize Routes mission and strategic plan.

- Program Manager
- 3-5 Part Time Youth Workers
- Placement Student(s)
- Program Volunteers

**Hours of Work**:On-site, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the expectation of supporting evening youth programming a few days each week. Occasional weekend shifts for special events or public speaking engagements.

**Salary: +/-**$60,000 annual, commensurate with experience (six-month probationary period)

**Responsibilities**

**Program Development and Oversight**
- Recruit, onboard and supervise staff performance ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality, organizational performance, continuous learning/improvement and encouraging innovation in others. Monitor and evaluate staff performance, resolve disputes, recommend and implement disciplinary action, when necessary;
- Develop and manage partnerships with community agencies, City of Hamilton, funders, local businesses and community members to provide accessible services that improve community well-being and represent the Centre at community events, on committees, taskforces etc. Respond to concerns/issues and provide information to the public;
- Assist in developing and implementing program budgets, ensuring the appropriate use of public funds and that expenditures and revenues are controlled and maintained within approved limits;
- Provide leadership in the Centre’s policy and procedural development including but not limited to the areas of program operations, human resources management, health and safety, organizational risk assessments and mitigation.

**Program Support and Front-Line Youth Work**
- Mentor, support, and nurture team to grow and build on individual strengths
- Support program set up prior to opening for youth programming (Tuesday-Friday);
- Support with menu planning, grocery shopping and food preparation;
- Provide frontline support during drop-in hours (Tuesday-Friday).

**Project Development and Grant-Writing**
- Work with the board’s grants and fundraising subcommittees to strategize and monitor ongoing fundraising and grant timelines for prospecting and reporting.

**General Management Responsibilities**
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the Centre’s long-term and annual plans and strategies;
- Support placement students and program volunteers including vetting, orientation, performance management and engagement;
- Track and maintain crucial data pertinent to program evaluation and participant demographic information;
- Collaborate with the Board Treasurer in maintaining records of income received by the Centre, issuing tax receipts and thank you letters and making bank deposits, as required;
- Maintain records of all program expenditures and reconcile against monthly credit card statements
- Create and deliver monthly program reports to the Board of Directors while attending monthly board meetings;
- Represent Routes at community events and on committees, task forces, etc. as designated;
- Attend board and subcommittee meetings as assigned; provide information, reports, updates, and recommendations on programs, activities and events at these meetings.
- Prepare and maintain staff work schedules and record hours worked in support of bi-weekly payroll
- Maintain a roster of program volunteers including task assignments and hours contributed

**Qualifications Sought**
- University/college degree or diploma in Social Work, Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Care or equivalent experience in a related field
- Experience in organizational leadership, change management, working with a board of directors and stakeholder management in the not-for-profit, charitable organization sector
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with both adults and youth, including public speaking aptitude
