Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent

Full-time, Salaried Position

We’re currently looking for an experienced, safety-conscious **Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent** to lead our team at the **Fath West Shop** in Acheson, Alberta. **Reporting to the Director - Mechanical, Logistics, and Production**, this role oversees and supports the mechanical shop and field foremen, ensuring high levels of productivity, operational standards, and technical expertise.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership & Team Development**:

- Ensure exceptional customer service by providing all field operations supervisors with the reliable and dependable technical expertise they need from the mechanical team.
- Coach and mentor technicians on best practices related to safe job procedures, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and sourcing parts.
- Provide strong leadership by identifying and addressing the training needs of your team, ensuring continuous professional development and growth.
- Develop mechanical staff for leadership roles within the department, such as lead hands and foremen.
- Support hiring initiatives and conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.

**Operational Expertise**:

- Perform job cost analysis to determine optimal solutions (e.g., repair, refurbish, re-tire, or replace).
- Ensure the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is utilized effectively for tracking workloads, analyzing performance data, and managing maintenance costs.
- Participate in Change Management initiatives, continuously seeking improvement opportunities.
- Develop recommendations for the business on equipment and related mechanical efficiencies.

**Collaboration & Communication**:

- Liaise with the Director - Mechanical, Logistics, and Production, as well as Senior Management, on various mechanical and operational matters.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure smooth operations, cost control, and timely parts procurement.
- Foster high-level collaboration with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.

**Cost Management**:

- Manage costs, expenses, and headcount to ensure budgets are adhered to.
- Monitor warranties to ensure proper follow-up and documentation.
- Assist procurement in sourcing parts while managing delivery times and cost efficiency.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Journeyman/Red Seal Heavy Duty Technician’s license is required.
- 7+ years of heavy-duty mechanics experience is required.
- Previous supervisory experience at a professional managerial level is required.
- Blue Seal certification is preferred.
- Proficient in computer skills, handheld devices and scanners.
- Highly developed troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Must possess the ability to communicate respectfully and professionally at all times.
- Excellent team-building, development, and cohesion skills.
- Must possess a Class 5 drivers’ license and be willing to receive extra training within the company.
