**Custom Biologics**has an exciting opportunity for an **MSc**trained scientist to join our **Bioassay Team** in the Scientific Innovation and Research Division in Toronto, Canada.
This position requires hands-on laboratory work, as well as supervision of research associates and technicians. Familiarity with GMP/GLP regulations is desired but not a requirement.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Design, validate and execute in vitro experiments to characterize and measure the therapeutic and binding properties of biotherapeutics including monoclonal antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, biosimilars and biologics.
- Perform cell culture-based bioassays, immunological assays (i.e. ELISA), protein affinity binding studies (biolayer interferometry), DNA-based and other assays as required.
- Ensure that experiments, analytical methods and data meet the scientific and regulatory requirements for the intended use i.e. characterization, comparability, stability, and lot release. Familiarity with USP and FDA guidelines helpful but not required.
- Author, review and approve SOPs, study protocols, reports and other scientific documents.
- Maintain a steady grasp of new scientific developments and new technologies
- Present scientific data to colleagues and clients, prepare and present external presentations and posters.
- Perform additional duties to support the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory and workplace.

- A proven ability to be highly productive and successful in a high pace work environment with excellent attention to details and meticulous bench work.
- Competency in computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to champion new and existing projects.
- Excellent team player. Willing to support co-workers with other projects. Shares relevant information and seeks technical advice and input when necessary.
- Willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:
- An MSc in biological sciences with a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in developing and optimizing biological assays and protein-protein interaction studies.
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Strong practical knowledge of quality statistics is desired, i.e. Parallel line analysis.
- A proven ability to be highly productive and successful in a high pace work environment with excellent attention to details and meticulous bench work.
- Competency in computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
