We are seeking an Educational Assistant.
The educational Assistant is an integral member of the Health team at Ihealthox and is responsible for supporting students with exceptional needs within the program. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability. Responsibilities are varied, in collaboration with teaching and other professional staff, and include: supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities; participation in social skills academic support; implementing special programs and support to behavioural students.
Educational Assistants may be required to modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues. Assignments may include weekends, evenings, at the centre, in-home support or at school.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- DSW
- Autism experience
- First Aid/CPR
- Level 2 sign language
- Experience working with deaf/blind students
- PIC Symbols
- Behaviour Modification Systems
- Computer skills
- Assist in toileting
- Direct instruction
- Behavioural tools
- Social skills
