Together, we are fuelled by the belief that we can create a future where businesses and society thrive together. **Responsibilities**: **The Research Assistant will support Innovation North’s research projects and activities by**: - Researching, analyzing and synthesizing information from an array of sources such as academic journals, business reports, news articles, and data sets - Observing and transcribing interviews with individual stakeholders to get a deeper understanding of the research problem and potential actions - Drafting and formatting project deliverables such as literature reviews, environmental scans, gap analyses, briefing notes, final reports, and presentations - Participating in internal research team meetings by presenting key research findings and potential recommendations for project clients - Ensuring research data (e.g. research documents, video recordings) is stored safe and securely in compliance with Research Ethics requirements - Collaborating with other research assistants and researchers to ensure tasks are completed on time - Providing administrative support such as booking meetings and interviews as needed **Qualifications** **Education**: - Must have completed 6 undergraduate terms - Must be a full time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment **Experience**: - Previous directly related experience Skills, Abilities & Expertise: - Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience - Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation - Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule - Ability to follow detailed and/or complex processes and practices with high attention to detail - Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western¿s policies and procedures - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment - Computer skills with Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new software programs as required - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public - Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals - Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable **Why Western?**: Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications.
