**Your Role**
As a member of the 1QBit Finance Products Team, you will support the team in its delivery of the 1QBit Academic Collaboration Program in Finance (ACPF). The work will be done in collaboration with clients and potential clients in the finance sector, or with students and professors at leading institutions.
The 1QBit Academic Collaboration Program in Finance is a quantum programming skills development program aimed at senior undergraduates and graduate students in quantitative finance and related fields. It also offers a commercial program for finance practitioners and technical professionals in organizations where quantum computing may soon become relevant.
**What You'll Do**
- Mentor groups of students on quantum computing projects in finance.
- Assist in the onboarding of collaborators, e.g. to Microsoft Azure Quantum.
- Provide technical support and general assistance in using program resources, e.g. Jupyter notebooks, 1QBit technical publications, accessible literature, etc., making use of your background in science and mathematics.
- Assist in program outreach, discovering and contacting individuals and organizations that can benefit from exploring quantum computing and/or other 1QBit products.
- Provide feedback and make recommendations for the further development of the program.
- Assist in the development of new program resources.
- Assist the Finance Products Team with high priority projects where needed.
**What You'll Bring**
- Bachelors Degree and current study at the graduate level in physics or quantitative finance. Applicants from other fields with an equivalent background in science and mathematics may also be considered.
- Experience in coaching students, as might be gained as a tutor or Teaching Assistant.
- Examples of past work with data analysis and visualization software, including the matplotlib package for Python or its equivalents, as well as Excel.
- Ability to work with others on collaborative research projects in a variety of roles.
- Ability to program in Python, or fluency in a relevant language (Mathematica, Matlab, Java, etc.) and the ability to learn. This is not a software engineering position, but a working knowledge of software engineering concepts would be a significant plus.
- An interest in financial markets and algorithmic trading, and a desire to learn.
**Nice to have**:
- Experience in leading or facilitating meetings with small remote groups, writing minutes, and following up in a systematic way.
- Ability to write for a variety of audiences and media, and to make presentations in person and remotely.
- Familiarity with specific tools used by 1QBit, including Jupyter, GitHub, Eclipse (PyDev/PyUnit) or VS Code, Travis CI, Docker, Airflow, Atlasssian (Confluence, Jira), Google Workspace, AWS, Azure.
- Knowledge of financial markets is helpful but not essential. An open mind and a willingness to learn will more important. The 1QBit Finance Products Team does most of its work with commodity futures and options, which are very different from stocks and bonds. Trading and hedging are very different from investing.
**Who We Are**
The 1QBit Finance Products Team focuses on the creation of products and services that can be sold as units, as opposed to doing one-at-a-time R&D projects (although we do these too). Most of its work is done in collaboration with CME Group, a strategic investor in 1QBit since 2014.
Team members work on a variety of projects, depending on the interests of our customers, partners, and academic collaborators.
