Reporting to the Regional Community Manager, the Cleaner is important to the successful operation of a multi-residential portfolio and its community. The
Cleaner’s primary function is to maintain an aesthetically pleasing multi-residential building and designated areas. The role is responsible for ensuring the four (4) senses of sight, touch, smell, and sound are produced by ensuring the building is clean, sanitary, fresh, comfortable, and tidy for residents, guests of the building, and staff to enjoy.

**Key Responsibilities**

Customer Service:

- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction is maintained; consistently focus on providing exceptional customer service
- Ensure to the best of their ability, the highest level a clean and safe environment for residents and clients
- Ensure the building creates a professional impression on residents, guests to the property and staff
- Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct
- Review and act on customer feedback relevant to building cleanliness
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all contractors, co-workers, and service providers
- Communicate with the Property Manager, team members and site staff on an ongoing basis
- As part of the overall team, maintain the goodwill of residents during the service period and promote the organization to existing and potential customers
- Work with the team to recommend modifications for service improvement, based on results or information obtained from customers

Administration / Health & Safety:

- Understand and abide by company policies, the Residential Tenancies Act, Privacy Act, Health and Safety standards, AODA and Municipal Property Standards By-Laws, and any other applicable legislation governing day-to
- day operations
- Be familiar with and adhere to the company’s Health & Safety Policy
- Ensure a complete knowledge and understanding of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
- Be familiar with emergency procedures including fire, flood, and power interruption
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning duties

Cleaning:

- Ensure interior of the building (lobbies, fitness rooms, lounges, amenity rooms, laundry room, restrooms, storage lockers, etc.) is kept clean, sanitized, and tidy in accordance with company standards
- Maintain the common areas and residential building corridors including ceilings, walls, windows, mirrors, floor surfaces, fixtures, etc. in an orderly condition (sweep, mop, scrub, dust, vacuum, wipe, polish)
- Adhere to a weekly, monthly, annual cleaning schedule within the property
- Perform daily inspections in all common areas and report any deficiencies to the management office
- Operate vacuum cleaners to remove dirt and other waste
- Wash windows, interior walls
- Clean and disinfect elevators
- Monitor garbage chute rooms for pest control and smells
- Remove all debris from garbage chute room floor; ensure chutes are free from blockage
- Gather and empty trash and any other waste containers
- Clean and maintain vacant apartments on a periodic basis
- Perform other duties as assigned

General:

- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or need for repair in the common areas of the building (i.e. light bulb replacement, vandalism, life safety, etc.)
- Operate mechanized cleaning equipment
- Handle and report lost and found items
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work
- Ensure routine maintenance is carried out, report in writing equipment faults or operating problems to manager
- Report all common area deficiencies including faulty door closures, missing signage, graffiti and vandalism, tile repairs, carpet repairs, plaster blisters, etc.
- Report any suspicious activities

Qualifications:

- High school education or GED is an asset
- Previous experience in similar role at multi-residential building or condominium
- Self-motivated individual who gets satisfaction from cleaning
