DESCRIPTION:
The CI Specialist plays a central leadership role in the design, assessment, implementation, training, and support of clinical hospital information systems; evaluation and recommendations of clinical processes, issue resolution and escalation, 'workflow analysis, facilitation of communication between clinical end users, information technology experts, and system/technical experts; participation in multidisciplinary teams advancing the role of information technology in supporting and enabling improvements in quality, efficiency, and safety of care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:

- Clinical Program Lead to support Epic, our Clinical Information System (CIS), assisting with workflow & configuration, user & system readiness, training & support;
- Assess clinical user needs, and generate system requirements based on those needs by engaging key stakeholders, analyzing workflows and processes, and conducting device and system assessments;
- Promote the standardization of care to advance the quality of patient care;
- Work with Leadership, IT, Interprofessional Practice (IPP), Health Information Management (HIM) and the decision support unit (DSU) to capture data, and develop metrics, reports, and analytics applicable to clinical care activities;
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma or University Degree in a Regulated Health Care Profession
- Current registration in good standing with regulatory body
- 2 years of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting;
- Knowledge of designing inter-disciplinary clinical processes to improve efficiency and patient care;
- Understanding of and adherence to the regulatory requirements, standards, policies, principles and guidelines related to the management of health information;
- Understanding of clinical concepts, terminology, clinical care processes, technologies, and workflows;
- Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with multidisciplinary groups;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver effective and persuasive presentations for a group;
- Displays strong initiative, establishing personal goals and taking responsibility for meeting them within defined timeline;
- Ability to travel from site to site;
- Health Informatics Certificate, or equivalent experience is an asset
- 3 years of recent experience in Clinical informatics is an asset
- Experience building and designing clinical workflow processes within an HIS is an asset;
- Knowledge of project management, change management and adult learning principles and methodologies is an asset;
- Experience implementing large scale projects, preferably deployment of a clinical information system is an asset;
- Experience with EPIC CIS is an asset
